Le Sedi is a young artist from Salford, England with a love for electronic-based music mixed with reflective and hypnotic vocals. Influenced by artists like Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs, James Blake, Little Dragon, and Sade, she finds beauty in the emotional and the experimental.
“Erase” was written and demoed by Le Sedi, who later sourced the beat online. Teaming up with Manchester-based Ethan Hill’s for recording, mixing, and mastering, the end result is a captivating and hypnotic listening experience.
Le Sedi’s vocals are smooth and evocative, offering a deep reflection of a tumultuous state of mind. The lyrics were written during a time of burnout, shifting identity, and declining mental health. It wasn’t long before Le Sedi found herself in a cross roads, questioning her path and seeking reinvention.
The beat offers a minimalist and experimental approach, opening up with an ethereal synth melody, and reversed percussions. The kick is short and incisive, leaving space for the immense sub bass. Quick drum n’ bass inspired sections appear and disappear from the track, conveying instability.
“Erase” almost sounds underwater, with a color that could be labeled as blue. There’s no actual chorus, but Le Sedi repeats the verse “not enough, not enough, not enough” as a hook.
The track is very short and leaves you wanting for more but something tells me we’ll be getting more from Le Sedi soon enough. With this single, the singer from Salford created not only a unique and interesting song, but also an emotional purge, that can be easily related to by anyone.
