Technotanguero’s newest single “Trippy” arrived earlier this March, and takes time off from the spiraling madness the world we live in is. This tune was born from spiraling madness, though, and carries within a potent dose of helpful musical medicine to soothe the nerves and help the sleepless.

Nothing quite as soothing as a good lo-fi tune with a twinge of trip-hop sensibility inside. “Trippy” is all that – smooth melodies, subtle percussion, cozy warmth emanating from the notes. Summery seaside relaxation imagery is evoked by the flute. Free of troubles, all the time, back in your hands and energy reserves properly filled. All of this is something dearly needed by anyone at some point in their lives, and “Trippy” intends to bring a small dose of that full relaxation into your hands now.
The single’s origin, who is moving steadfast into “Terrible Two”, has made deep relaxation and sleep just a distant memory. “Trippy” was created in one of many sleepless nights, and it contains a little bit of everything, from sheer exhaustion and wonder to the no-sleep delirium bringing with it the trippy state of mind. And in a way it’s a fleeting moment of time captured in music – endless for those currently experiencing it, and suddenly a distant past for people with grown kids.
“We created this track through some sleepless nights because of our baby daughter. We wanted to produce a more EDM-oriented track, but we stumbled upon a couple of bizarre-sounding samples—especially the pitch drop you hear at one point—and we were so sleep-deprived that we thought they were perfect for a song XD. Following the same hallucinogenic path, we experimented with some tape splices/loops, and at that point, it was clear that the direction was leaning towards trip-hop/hip-hop. From there it was straight downhill.”

Technotanguero is a project led by two soulmates, Massimiliano and Ilaria. The project combines two passions – technology by the day and music (specifically Tango Argentino dance) by the night in one big melting pot, where inspiration flows both ways. Influenced by the greats like Depeche Mode and Kate Bush, Technotanguero creates music, where familiar places are given a whole new breathing through innovation. When asked what can be expected from this band, Massimiliano replied:
“Sound research, a bit of mystery, another bit of romance and a tiny little bit of crazyness and spleen sometimes.”
