The Muster Point Project makes couples reflect on their own relationships with “Looked Good On Paper”. A song about thinking you have the perfect partner, while in reality you’re missing one of the most important things… passion.
A one-man band by definition, The Muster Point Project is a Canadian Indie band created by singer-songwriter Kevin Franco. Taking the lead and playing all of the instruments on the song, he teamed up with the talented Montreal drummer, Marcelo Effori for the drums and percussion.
Wittingly released on April Fool’s Day, this brand new track is a song about being fooled by none-other than yourself.
The song speaks of believing you have the perfect match because most of the boxes are checked. That is, until you realize that a relationship cannot endure without passion. Eventually, you break up and swear you won’t be fooled like that again as you walk away.
High hopes or delusion? The song has a hint that the story is very much likely to happen again, so you gotta be careful!
The instrumental offers a smooth and groovy atmosphere of a Folk nature. Dynamic and carefully played, it’s intensity moves around with an ebb and flow that keeps the listener entertained.
The chorus is catchy, with ask and response vocals. The verses go from intimate to desperate as the singer asks for what’s next, and realizes that moving on is the only step to take.
The single definitely offers a highly relatable message. It is ultimately a song that makes you re-evaluate your own relationship. You might find yourself relieved if the boxes of passion and love are checked out, or you might realize there’s some work to do!
