Dutch musician, multi-instrumentalist and music therapist Harry Kappen is back with brand new album Four, following the success of last year’s Time Will Tell and its highlight “Where the Volcano Is Awake“. His latest effort shows the artist leaning more heavily on the classic rock side of his influences, citing names like Prince, Bowie and McCartney as main inspirations. The result is a solid record that explores the boundless possibilities of the modern rock sound, while still honoring what came before and using it as a blueprint of sorts.
Four takes those inspirations and runs with them, adding along healthy doses of americana and indie pop. It’s remarkable how his new album feels like a direct continuation of Time Will Tell and something entirely new at once, giving Kappen’s career a newfound life.
