Blacklight Beat Patrol’s newest release “Awe Walk” saw its first light just recently on May 23rd, and it’s a song intending to shut out the noise-ridden world. Once the constant noise is removed, a much calmer sense of reality sets in with space to notice and admire the little moments that make life more beautiful. “Awe Walk” goes on a stroll to soak in the beauty and light that’s surrounding us, but always goes unnoticed in daily rush.

As suitable for a state of calmness, the song starts off with a shimmer of synth notes reminiscent of sunlight reflecting off all sorts of items, setting up a backdrop for the trip-hop flavored beat to join. What noise was present before has been turned into glitchy sounds reorganised to no longer fill the head with noise, but to offer rhythmic varieties, garbage turned into something meaningful.
Once the head is free to wander and take in the surroundings, there’s also the opportunity to hear your own rhythm and walk on to the beat of it. The shimmery unfocused parts are reminiscent of being distracted and thus blind, and the rhythmic parts come in to break you free from that hazy state and reveal the life happening around you in its minute and minuscule forms.
“Like most of my tracks, “Awe Walk” didn’t start with a concept—it just evolved. I began the song months earlier, but it didn’t fully click until I came back to it during a stretch of frustration with everything going on in the U.S. What finally brought the track to life was that feeling of being overwhelmed by constant media noise, and the realization that we often forget to notice the good and beautiful things happening right around us.
That contrast between chaos and clarity shaped the tone. Around the 1:28 mark, there’s a part meant to reflect what it’s like to be stuck in your own head, when everything feels muffled and hard to focus, before resetting to calm and finding joy or excitement in something small but real.”

“Awe Walk” is not only a journey into the beauty of life, but it is also a tastemaker for Blacklight Beat Patrol’s upcoming fourth studio album, which is to arrive later this year. The single, which strays from using traditional structures in its formation, also shows the artist’s love for the unusual and the explorative. Blacklight Beat Patrol, also known as Scott R. Corneau, finds the greatest joy in expressing raw emotions and creating untethered journeys into sound, where anything is possible.
“If you’re checking out Blacklight Beat Patrol for the first time, just go in with an open mind. The music doesn’t really follow a set formula—it tends to wander and shift. Some tracks are glitchy or abstract, others are more rhythmic or dance-inspired. I pull from a lot of different genres I love, like hip hop, electronic, and whatever else catches my ear. Hopefully, it sparks some curiosity and makes you want to come back and catch something new each time.”
