American rock band The Cravens returns with Strangers to the Truth, their fourth studio album and first one since 2021’s Cravenology. It’s an eleven-track journey that borrows from many different genres, ranging from hard rock to americana, with surprisingly cohesive dynamics and compelling storytelling.
Backed by singles “Big Ole Sky” and “More Than Sorry”, Strangers to the Truth shows a band really in touch with themselves. The harmonies and back-and-forth melodies coming from singers and frontmen Bill and John Storch are both comforting and adventurous, leading the way to fulfilling soundscapes and personal narratives. It’s an album that delivers an eclectic mixture of genres that serve as the perfect background for the emotional lyricism that stretches over themes of love and loss, hope and reality.
Strangers to the Truth features classic songwriting done incredibly well, crafting inviting atmospheres that highlight the group’s ability to evoke real feelings with ease. The Palm Beach-based act is at their best when challenging themselves, and they do it constantly on their latest record. It’s a thrilling exploration of modern indie rock tendencies, encompassing a myriad of styles that blend perfectly into a distinctive sound.

Dennis Ambrose: Bass
Bill Meredith: Drums
David Simone: Guitar
Bill Storch: Vocals, Guitar
John Storch: Vocals, Guitar
The Cravens aren’t at all newcomers to the scene, and it shows. There’s a level of confidence present on this album that can only come from the maturity of having years of experience under your belt, and Strangers to the Truth is the moment in which they unleashed it all. On their new album the band is embracing a fun and care-free attitude at the same time they tackle deeply emotional and serious questions.
Taking inspiration from classic acts like Tom Petty, Willie Nelson and even The Rolling Stones, The Cravens delivered a rock album with absolutely no misses. Everything from the production to songwriting to execution and progression feels timeless and classic, and this is no small thing. Strangers to the Truth sounds like both an expansion as well as a consolidation of the soundscapes navigated by them up to this point, and it finds them right at the edge. It’s a more than solid rock record that celebrates entire genres at once but always finding a way to make them refreshing and current, and it’s by far the best and well-rounded record The Cravens made so far.
