LateNightBeatFeast, a Cambridge-based electronic music producer, is revealing a new futuristic chapter in their musical journey, this time about going to space. The story, wrapped into the form of an upcoming EP “Transmission Seven”, features space exploration in multiple timelines, each coming with a different outcome. This blog post will be about one chapter from this whole story, a song titled “Determinism”.
In this timeline, only one outcome is to happen as hinted by the song’s title. Determinism, a philosophical concept, assumes everything happens due to a certain set of circumstances out of our control, and thus it will lead to a specific outcome despite our efforts. For the spacemen going out on a mission in this particular timeline, things that seemed to be under control slowly but certainly started to get out of hand, leading to the destruction of their space missile.

A moody dark note takes place and paints the mood for the upcoming journey with the distorting growling bassline. Hints of anxiety and fear remain present, but they’re overrun by the determination of going on the mission. The unfolding story is narrated by cinematic production, where imminence is created by cello and tension brought in with moments of beatless silence with only the distorting low bass echoing into distance.
“Determinism” and its music video join two other music videos set for release along with the album. The three-part short science fiction video explores different timelines of space exploration and the possible results. For this particular song, it’s unfortunately destroyed despite all preparations, as the team tries to explore an unstable spaceship, ending in a bright blue explosion.
