Italian rock group The Crystal Bullets bring forth their newest, and also rawest and most vulnerable single “Heart of a Whore”. Created from the chaos of wrecked relationship, the song invites listeners into the deep, dark realm, where love is replaced by survival. In this realm, dominated by acid rain of betrayal and loss of love, a cold heart of a whore would be great to have, but alas, the cracked heart full of feelings is what we’ve got.
Heartbreak welcomes you in the misty dark atmosphere, introduced by Hans Zimmer’y piano melody depicting the moment in relationship, where love no longer is enough to survive. The Crystal Bullets fill the vacant space once so floral with the strong sound of classic rock with a hint of metal in the guitar chords, and in the chaos, the lead vocalist’s voice shines through to bring a message of survival and persistence in the face of broken feelings, lies and betrayal by someone, that’s now your enemy.
In order to survive a crashed relationship, one has to try and put feelings aside. A stonewalled heart, “a heart of a whore”, is just a self-protection for not wanting to break any further, making you seem cold and distant to the other side that’s been hurting you. That’s the basis of the raw confessions that form the single’s core. It’s an anthem of survival through an emotional storm.
The Crystal Bullets is an up-and-coming Italian rock band that doesn’t shy away from expressing the truth as it is. With a sound carrying hints of rock classics as well as fellow pioneers in the genre, the band feels at home both in the studio as well as on stage. The Crystal Bullets have the energy, skills, riffs, and stories to wow all rock fans hungry for great new music.
