Irish rising alternative pop artist Lex Bucha finally released his debut EP Painless Mode. Featuring his excellent past singles, like “Back and Forth” and “High Altitude“, the five-track project finds the musician exploring a world of cathartic possibilities. According to the artist himself Painless Mode is an open invitation into a place where worries dissipate and the rhythms take over. The power of Lex’s music aligned with his creative output and merge of genres make for an incredibly pleasing listen, surrounded by soothing atmospheres and beautiful melodies that carry a cautious optimism in them.

The lyricism navigated by Lex Bucha on the EP ranges from struggles with anxiety and fractured relationships, ultimately culminating in a serene search for inner peace and self-connection. Drawing on influences taken from the likes of Troye Sivan and Hurts, Painless Mode stands as a remarkably diverse record – weaved through his cinematic take on synthpop there are elements of glitch, alternative rock and dream pop with amazing results.
“I’ve lived through these things, but I rarely spoke about them”, the artist says about his lyrical inspirations that revolve around staying silent or unable to act in the face of challenging circumstances. Those include experiencing panic attacks, heartbreak and complicated family relations, all explored by Lex with vulnerability and grace. “Painless Mode is me finally putting my fears and pain into words and music. I hope that by sharing my truth, others won’t feel so alone in theirs”, he concludes.
At the back end of the EP there are the two new songs, “No Return” and “Fake Love”; tracks that feel and sound unlike anything coming from him yet. From the almost claustrophobic synths of “No Return” and its words of resilience, the song is a fast-rising piece of impeccable alternative pop built upon layers and layers of self-realizations and musical catharsis. The project ends with “Fake Love”, a cheeky take on hyperpop that finds its footing amongst disconnected drum patterns and an ever-evolving sense of letting go from someone who’s made toxic decisions.
