Seattle-based alternative pop band Haus of Sound expands their musical realm once again with 80s-inspired new single “Madness”. The american band has come a long way with a cast of diverse influences that range from ska (“Anxiety“) to nu-metal (“Mirage“), and now the quartet is back at it with fresh pop rock synths and classic melodies.
Centered around the catchy hook ‘the world’s going crazy around me’, “Madness” is an exploration of toxicity and emotional addiction. It’s a heavy subject but Haus of Sound’s way of dealing with it feels light as if floating on air. “Madness” is a song that captures the tension of finding comfort in the chaos because of its familiarity with understanding and softness; much like found on After Laughter-era Paramore.
Navigating through rough themes with elegance and grace isn’t new for Haus of Sound, and yet the band manages to do it through entirely new lenses each time. Their ability to merge, bend and reshape their own sound without losing their identitiy is incredibly noteworthy and shows a true chameleonic band always willing to do things differently and with so much heart behind it every time.
“Madness” is an ambitious sound and song, guided by frontwoman Gabrielle Burton’s soaring vocals and angular dynamics. It’s their most synth-heavy release so far, and some of the Linkin Park influences from previous singles can still be found to great surprise. The track is backed by a performative music video showing the band surrounded by dark lights and smoke, perfectly illustrating the track’s emotional lyrics and how relatable their songwriting is, especially around dire circumstances and sensitive topics.
On their new single Haus of Sound stands as a band capable of anything, always looking to try new and interesting ideas no matter where they come from. There is something really special about the way the american band shapeshifts with every single release, making their debut album feel even more anticipated – we never know what we’ll get from them and that feels incredibly exciting.
