Liverpool-born artist Elliot Bam returns with “Hungry for More”, his latest single and third track since his debut back in last June. Like the perfect cross pollination between Elton John and Fiona Apple, the music explored by Elliot is intense and deeply emotional, driven by dramatic piano chords and a delightful alternative rock flare. On Hungry for Me, the English musician delves into themes of toxic relationships inspired by personal experiences, making the track hit even harder for queer people.
“Hungry for More” starts as a dense piano ballad and eventually transforms into an explosion of 70s-inspired psychedelic rock, taking us in an intimate journey that seeks to find meaning in the way we connect with others. “I wanted to capture the frustration that comes with caring about someone, but struggling to support them when they’re happily continuing down the road of self-destruction”, says Elliot. The overarching theme of his latest single is one of universal relatability, as he sings about a relationship in which one part is headed down a dark path and unwilling to accept the help the other is trying to offer.
“I wanted to capture that feeling of betrayal when a partner chooses danger over their own relationship”, he concludes. Elliot’s style of storytelling and songwriting comes from a very raw and vulnerable space, always incorporating his own trans identity as an integral part of his artistry and bringing up refreshing perspectives not usually seen on the more mainstream side of alternative rock. An exploration of how queer people are always expected to sacrifice everything about themselves in order to maintain even a dying relationship, “Hungry for More” basks in that feeling as a way of trying to understand what can actually be done about it that doesn’t end in mutual destruction.
The track is definitely the most heartbreaking and intense single coming from him yet, a song that lets its weight be known and shown in its entirety without looking back. It’s equal parts cathartic and yearning, backed by beautiful production that breathes in and out alongside its emotional release. “Hungry for More” is a song that dives deep into that frustration and anxiety instead of sugar coating it, because maybe when if you’re deep within it some clarity can be found.

“My biggest hope is that this song reaches anyone going through that kind of heartbreak and helps them feel a little less alone”, he ultimately concludes. Elliot Bam is a powerful songwriter and owner of a very soothing and comforting vocal performance that can make anything sound hopeful. That is what makes “Hungry for More” such an intense experience; even at the absolute lowest point, Elliot still hopes for the best.
Its resilience and fearlessness in sharing his stories turn his music into a transcendental journey that aims to find connection more than anything, and that is a rare skill to have, especially so early in his career. “Hungry for More” is proof that emotional weight doesn’t necessarily have to come from an all-consuming pessimism; it can be a tool of human expression that still leaves you hopeful that things can actually change for the better, no matter how they feel at the moment.
