Written by frontman Jack Baldwin, “Magpies” is the fourth single of the year coming from english act Wild Horse. The track has been a fan favourite on their live shows for a long time, but the East Sussex quartet hadn’t released a proper studio version of it until now. It’s a heartfelt song about trust and betrayal through the lens of self-preservation, trying to navigate the modern world and the lack of true loyalty and connection that is abundant all around.

It points out the problem, at the same time that it continues to seek true connections or at least tries to find peace in letting go of what isn’t real. Their latest single employs elements of Fleetwood Mac’s soft vibrancy, blending those influences perfectly alongside the Britpop references that are spread all throughout their discography. Wild Horse keeps on surprising with sharp commentary and genuine humanity, tackling universal struggles with serenity and humor.
