Global citizen, entrepreneur and artist Exzenya is back with brand-new single “‘Till I’m Drunk & Confused”, taken from upcoming album Bar Scenes & Rumors. Shortly after the challenging “Ugly When You Love Me” she takes a few steps back from her usual experimental roots and bets on a softer, acoustic folk pop that works very nicely alongside her unique vocal style. An exploration of a collapse, both physical and mental, the track unfolds with raw intimacy and an unwavering sense of caution.

Taking inspiration from the likes of Jason Mraz and Noah Kahan, “‘Till I’m Drunk & Confused” is a confessional song that deals with heartbreak and intoxication in a relatable way. The track follows the story of a relationship lost because of alcohol abuse, in which the narrator turns to the very same thing to cope with its ending. “It’s not a sad song – it’s a real one”, Exzenya says. It’s a truly interesting reflection on how humans turn to substances in search of escapism, walking a very fine line between self-destruction and honesty.
“‘Till I’m Drunk & Confused” incorporates elements of classic folk storytelling with an upbeat production that masks the real pain behind the lyrics very smoothly, highlighting her songwriting skills and ability to try different sounds without losing the personable approach of her past work. Exzenya has a way of crafting dark tales that feel real and never shy away from hard topics, and this is perhaps her best example since “Drunk Texting” earlier in the year.
