All the way from Saint Amant in Louisiana, iLLLogick is a visionary hip-hop artist and producer who co-founded 3NIGMA BRED MUSIC alongside Grim Logick, curating and releasing several projects over the last years. Amongst those projects is the stunning album Cipher Chronicles: The Network Archives, also with Grim Logick, and now iLLLogick is back with his first solo single in a few months “Stiff Person Stories: (Part 1)”.

On “Stiff Person Stories” iLLLogick builds a well-rounded universe of sounds and beats that serve as a colourful background to his impeccably experimental flow. The track details the struggles of living with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects the muscles and is characterized by chronic pain and impaired mobility. It’s a raw, authentic, and unfiltered description of what it’s really like to live with it, offering a glimpse of vulnerability and immense strength.
Originally written and recorded in October of 2024, the track was initially shelved over unauthorized sample use, only to be resurrected now by him and Grim Logick after the creation of original beats for it. iLLLogick himself was skeptical about the song: “Been rapping for over half my life, and if I was gonna get recognition, I wanted it for pure skill, not the disability angle”, he says. But thankfully “Stiff Person Stories” is finally out, standing as a true highlight of his career from both production as well as lyrical points of view.
The duo added dusty jazz samples, boom bap beats and a charming lo-fi texture that truly elevates the track’s emotional resonance. It sounds close to home and timeless, infusing so much personality and honesty to the sonic landscape of the track with warm horns, 808s and sparkling pianos.
The inspiration behind his decision to write “Stiff Person Stories” comes from an unlikely place: “Céline Dion’s public SPS diagnosis in 2022 gave me permission to be specific”, he says. “Before her announcement, explaining SPS meant medical lectures. After? People had context. One in a million people have this condition, and suddenly the world’s most powerful vocalist is saying she’s fighting the same invisible war I’ve been in since 14”.
It’s a powerful track on its own, a genuine portrayal of the pain and misunderstandings that come with SPS that asks for empathy without ever turning him or any other person who suffers from it into victims. “Stiff Person Stories: (Part 1)” is a reclaiming of a diagnosis that challenges the basic ability to have your limbs working, while also providing a stellar display of his creativity as a producer. It seeks comfort, not aggression, and it’s definitely the most vulnerable moment of his career so far – and it really pays off.
