While the 6-track release was inspired by deeply-seated unrest in Mary’s home country, its release as singles got unexpectedly tied with her divorce, a tumultuous period of her life that hurt deeply. But the flames do have a purifying power to them, and the EP beautifully followed the artist’s rebirth, a cathartic journey of finding oneself again.
