Sometimes, long breaks are good. Such is the case for UK-based electronic music producer D3PRT, who has just sprung back into the music scene with a new release, a melancholic and mystical single named “You Will Never Know”. With the song, D3PRT brings forth his new sound, deeper, calmer, much more introspective and with plenty of darkness.
It seems that some emotional states are best described by minimal but tight percussion and bottomless, wavy basslines, with a whole lot of reverbs applied to everything else. Something about the otherwise uncomfortable depths is made not only approachable but inviting. As for “You Will Never Know”, these veiled emotional layers are made exceedingly inviting by an incredibly serene dubstep sound trickled with speedy garage rhythms, broken down and then reassembled throughout the tune’s duration.
The dark, formed by fleeting vocal slivers and synths with sultry nightclub textures, shows itself as a home to all nightly creatures with heads full of heavy thoughts, not looking forward to the upcoming daylight. Here, the velvety basslines and subtle piano notes show why the brooding late night hours are so alluring even with all the darkness and pensive undertones.
The dark, alluring, and layered sound of the single shows that D3PRT is perfect for long, dark nights, whether at home or on the road. Its steadfast motion and the ability to weave luminous specks of nocturnal magic into the pure pleasure offered by the low bass notes make for a solid companion for the lone bass music lover looking for comfort in music.
