English indie rock rising star Tom Minor is set to release his sophomore record Ten New Toe-Tappers for Shoplifting & Self-Mutilation, following a string of excellent singles all throughout 2025. The record finds the musician fully expanding upon the fusion of classic 70s rock and britpop seen on his 2024 debut Eleven Easy Pieces On Anger & Disappointment.

Tom’s lyricism is stronger than ever as he touches on themes that range from relationship laments to political tension, always providing razor-sharp commentary with tremendous wit and a surrealist sense of humor. This was already seen on its lead single “Future Is an F Word” and The Manic Phase EP, and now Tom goes even deeper on all of his previously explored concepts and sounds on the new album, resulting in a thoroughly refreshing and thought-provoking rock record that feels alive and breathing.
On his new album, Tom expresses a universal kind of frustration with the state of the world, doing so through absurdist rhetoric that makes the topics feel light-hearted and extremely accessible. This is the case with darker undertones. Luckily, Tom also finds space and hope for the current landscape as explored on album closer “Change It!” – a track that hits even harder following everything that’s been said, like a small band-aid after a bite.

Ten New Toe-Tappers for Shoplifting & Self-Mutilation shows Tom adding new and interesting elements to his sonic palette as well, like the harmonica melodies of “Washed-Up Buoy” or the jazzy “Outgoing Individual” and its inspiration on “The Lovecats” by The Cure. It’s a record that feels organic with every turn and chord, a place for Tom to speak freely and also show his creativity at full bloom.
Even amongst its hard-hitting topics and surrealist tendences, there is plenty of warmth to be found on the album. Tom reveals himself as a romantic at heart, whether he’s reminiscing on a nostalgic train ride on “Next Stop Brixton” or the love-amidst-chaos of “The Loneliest Person On Earth”. It’s an expansive record that isn’t afraid to say what it has to say, unfazed and unfiltered. It’s an impressive achievement how he manages to pack so much into twelve tracks that feel uplifting and built an atmosphere of universality with remarkable ease. The only lie he’s telling you is on the album title because, yes, there are twelve tracks and not ten.
The sophomore record from Tom Minor sounds like a fully-realized concept, a way to expand upon sounds and ideas explored previously but this time with much more depth. It’s a challenging album that is constantly testing out new points of view and refreshing ways to express old ideas, and the does it all with overflowing charm and personality. Tom is the kind of artist that always leaves you wandering what he’ll come up with next, and it’s incredibly exciting to hear. His debut record already gave us an artist that is fearless on his convictions and bold in sound, and now Ten New Toe-Tappers… comes to cement that once and for all.
