Paul Cogley, a long-time musician, has just released an LP titled “Deep Blue Sky”, a follow-up from the original CD-release with the same title. This time, the album has expanded considerably with new music in the tracklist, new artwork and a fresh sound, now perfectly fitting a double vinyl. Among the new additions, there’s now a track that gives this LP its name – a song of hope and resilience titled “Deep Blue Sky”.

Seated as the last in the list of 16 songs, “Deep Blue Sky” offers its own story to the album’s overall theme of finding yourself in the current tumultuous times, where things keep getting more absurd by the day, and people have lost the connection to reality. Materialistic dreams, longing of real connection, endless hurry to nowhere and the living hell for the unlucky among us and more are represented beautifully on the album, and “Deep Blue Sky” comes to close the story up by showing the strength of union.
For the damned billionaires and thieves at the top, it’s in their best interest if people are divided and hurting each other, blind to what’s happening around them. But what happens when said people finally manage to look past the bickering and see what common grounds they live on? They see the deep blue sky above, shaded by the ones that are their real enemy.
Through atmospheric indie rock and the wailing electric guitar, a voice of truth and love speaks about what’s really important for us, the common humans. Passion for protecting ourselves, our homes and futures is weaved into lyrics, and the shouted line “Hey Tyrant, we rise up and unite!” stands up as a sentence to instil fear into the dark hearts of suited thieves and self-assigned demented brutalist kings.
