Florida-based John Muka Band impressed everyone with debut album Things I Can’t Change in last May, and now they’re back with brand new single “More & More”. John Muka delivers an energetic brand of indie rock, influenced both by Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as classical music the magnetism of a big-band jam session. Their sound is remarkably rich and textured with organic instrumentations, giving the band a certain edge that feels inviting instead of intimidating.
Their latest single “More & More” shows an even more nuanced and complex sound for them, adding in elements of funk and americana with incredible ease. The track explored the complicated relationship between satisfaction and desire, capturing the hunger for more at the same time that it is fully aware of its ambitions. It’s a very alluring and compelling song that explodes in an overwhelming ball of infectious energy and does it all with sophistication and elegance.

John Muka Band does polish very well, and this new single illustrates that tastefulness in a way that feels timeless and refreshing. It balances dramatic dynamics with impressive coziness of a live performance, further cementing John Muka as a powerhouse vocalist and a charismatic frontman. “More & More” also sounds like a step forward for the band, incorporating bits and pieces from Talking Heads’s signature art-house rock into their own universe in a way that is very natural and organic.
It’s an upbeat and uplifting song made with incredible passion and care, like the band is testing out their own waters and expanding what they can do. “More & More” is a joyous track that covers so much ground in its never-ending twists, leaving you positively breathless by the time it’s done. If Things I Can’t Change was already a remarkable start, this single is the band finding themselves once and for all.
