This delicate story starts unfolding deep in the night with crickets singing. Sleep gets interrupted and replaced by restless wake hours, as the loving ghost has once again resurfaced in the dreams. Kat Kikta’s emotional voice shows the vulnerable, helpless state as she faces that ghost once again. From her lyrics it seems apparent that this is yet another night in the list of many similar nights.
Soft melodic soundscapes create a hazy backdrop for the dreams and memories to recombine once again, as the ghost of love reminds her how lovely the relationship was. Passion and tenderness flow through the spoken words, making way for longing and sadness, but she has decided not to dwell on sad feelings too much, for she knows it was meant to happen anyway.
Thus, the liquid hip hop influenced atmosphere becomes the space where she makes peace with the past and bids farewell to the ghost of love. That person will always be a happy memory, it has just happened so that they can’t be part of the present anymore. That’s the bittersweet way of life. “Dreamer” shows how important it is to say proper goodbyes, for the sake of your own soul as well as theirs. Unresolved ends will always haunt.
Those haunting memories are also present in the accompanied music video. Like the song, the clip features intimacy and high levels of vulnerability. Scenes like her awake and reminiscing in bed, as well as walking outside in the streets and in nature while dressed in only morning coat and slippers show how deeply the dreams have intertwined with reality, when one is haunted by the past like this.
