Maria Grazia Altea, a singer with magical voice, released THIS SONG LAST YEAR, which is a moody folk rock tune “Don’t Do Don’t Say”. Its title of full denial and the sound of silently approaching darkness have come to tell a story of us, humans, being often led to deform reality. “Don’t Do Don’t Say” is here to make us see the actual truth.
Why the distortion anyway? We have abstract minds. Rules made to follow. Some of us like alcohol or attention too much. Problems blown way out of proportion. Even the idea of what others may be thinking about us grows out of control and fast. Worry makes us see distorted reality in 4K.
Alcohol, parties and social rules have made their way into “Don’t Do Don’t Say”, as the song opens up a scene in a gathering. Perhaps a party with wider audience, or a bar, but one thing is for sure. The subtle melodies of folk rock are here to show the uncomfortable in its fully exposed form, but it’s doing so in an eloquent manner.

Hypnotic vocals on top of delicate acoustic guitar form a brooding atmosphere of self-driven deception and unmet desires. It’s true for both sides of the story, and yet this odd dark reality is where the story decides to reside. Probably because it’s easier not to really question what we’re seeing and just roll with it, even if issues arise later on.
It’s a dance between dream and reality, resulting in a rather alluring atmosphere. Maria Grazia Altea brings the beauty out through honesty and delicate songwriting in all her music. Inspired by life weaving beauty together with trouble, Maria creates music that soothes and helps to see things through a new, different perspective.
I just love music, I think the most important thing is truly feeling what you sing or play. That’s how it connects with the audience; otherwise, it’s just technical exercise. It’s a strange and unexplainable magic.
