German singer-songwriter Oskar Brandt is a brand-new voice in the realm of cinematic pop music. A storyteller in heart, the fresh artist explores the pinnacles and storms of life through impactful, emotionally stirring music, and he has begun the journey with a theme of love. Titled “Now or Never”, the aching single walks an unsecured rope between hope and desperation, love and loss.
Now or never, acceptance or denial. High up on a fog-covered stage, an epic yet vulnerable story begins to unroll. Surrounded by orchestral notes that depict the storm happening inside the heart of this young lover, the emotive voice starts from how it all began. The fateful meeting, how he fell for her, the circumstances then, the carefree nights of pretending no tomorrows along with difficult decisions exist.
Tomorrows and difficult decisions will come with relentless speed though. Now surrounded by thunder of emotions exclaimed by pulsating strings and imposing percussion, it’s time to face this love at hand. Will he dare to dive in and express his feelings to the lady and face potential rejection, or will he keep it all to himself and cope with missed opportunity of a great relationship. The act of practically handing your very heart to a person you love and hoping they don’t reject it is quite possibly the most vulnerable state he’s ever experienced so far in life.
When writing “Now or Never”, Brandt brought in a couple of really great collaborators. Cellist Dave Eggar, who has worked for a list of well-known artists ranging from Coldplay to Beyoncé, gave the song a potent knot in the stomach feeling, and producer Heather Holley, who has worked with Crhistina Aguilera, helped with solidifying the song’s narrative.
This song of tumultuous times of love shadowed by uncertainty is the first taste of Oskar Brandt’s musical world, where cinematic, larger-than-life music meets intimate and highly vulnerable moments in life. Instead of trying to provide answers, Brandt realizes we’re all too unique for one solution and instead reaches out to connect with listeners to say they are not alone with the problems and decisions. His tender voice and lyrics of raw honesty will reach far and wide on the wings of beautifully crafted cinematic music experience.
