The artist does an excellent job in humbling herself in order to do better, offering a unique perspective on the feeling of love. “I think we often assume that we already know how to love,” she says about the inspirations behind the song. “But sometimes someone comes into your life and makes you realize that you have to learn all over again.” That realization that not all love is the same and we must adapt ourselves in order to make things work shows stunning depth and understanding, making it an universal experience that we all can learn from.
Réna employs a softly-delivered acoustic track that takes cues from soul, indie pop and diary-style confessions on her debut single. She’s incredibly expressive, and eventually I realised that while I thought I was learning how to take care of her, she was also teaching me how she wanted to be loved. That idea became the song.”
