Mute TV burst onto the scene early this year with an electrifying debut— their single “Drag Me Down”. Blending the raw energy of post-punk, the lush textures of noise pop, the dreaminess of shoegaze, and the rebellious spirit of alternative rock from the South West, they craft passionate love songs that delve deep into the realms of joy, despair, and overwhelming desperation.

With the magnetic Tim James on lead vocals and bass, the dynamic Joe Mountain wielding guitar and vocals, and the infectious Ade Poole commanding the drums and adding his voice, their music dances on the edge of noise, melody, and a beautifully orchestrated chaos that leaves listeners breathless.
Just like its predecessor, “Broken Drum” was recorded live at The Heavy’s studio within Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, capturing the chemistry and energy of the trio as they play together in a single space. The outcome? A mesmerizing recording brimming with electrifying passion and heartfelt camaraderie.
The single pulsates with Poole’s outstanding drumming: fierce, explosive, and undeniably precise. Throughout the song, the drums roar as a robust backbone, creating an irresistible foundation for James and Mountain to unleash their raw, captivating melodies.
Speaking about the track, the band said: “The song is about how we have a lot of relationships in life. Some are more important than others, but none of them are easy. We recorded the track with Chris Ellul from The Heavy at their studio, wanting to capture it as close as possible to how it feels when we play it live. There’s a certain energy that comes from the three of us playing together at the same time that we didn’t want to lose.”
