Kingfisher is delivering a very unique and uplifting musical experience in their brand new album “Two Magic Symphonies“, an 8 track collection plus a bonus track of Indie-Rock music mixed with Alternative, Electronic, and Hard Rock nuances. For fans of The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, and Bloc Party.
This ethnically diverse band from Uppsala, Sweden, carries a very interesting and diverse sound where versatility is key. The way they mix genres together in a seamless way, while still sounding authentic, is something pretty outstanding. Everything from the guitar work, to the ear-worm melodies, to the anthemic lyrics, is a solid statement of the big amount of talent these guys have.
Kingfisher was created by a duo of Italian and Colombian students who met in Uppsala. After just over two years of songwriting and live shows/streams, the duo recently joined forces with a bassist (Affe) and an award-winning Swedish producer at Massiv Musik for their first release.
“Two Magic Symphonies is our first album consisting of 8 songs plus a bonus track. We have released 6 singles already, therefore the album release brings 2 new songs (+bonus) to the listeners.” – Kingfisher
The album is absolutely gorgeous and stunning. Each song is different and captures the attention of the listener with its innovative sense of composition and genre blending. From the Punk attitude of opening track “Get Away“, to the electronic-infused guitars of “Lover To Discover“, to the anthemic, upbeat energy of “Heartbeat”, this album is anything but boring and stale.
It is divided into two symphonies. Each symphony consists of four movements (4 songs). Each
movement (song) is characterized by the tempo. In each of the two symphonies, the first movement (song) starts presto, the second continues moderato, the third is allegro, and the fourth ends presto.
Perhaps my favorite track is “Ten Miles Away“, as it is the first track that breaks away from the uptempo energies and presents subtle guitar arpeggios, with nostalgic yet hopeful vocals with a harmonious elegance, supported by the addition of cinematic synths/strings and even an accordion.
It is very much worth it to give this album a listen, it is perhaps one of the finest we’ve reviewed here on the blog. So go ahead and click that PRE-SAVE button, I promise you won’t regret it.
A meeting point between 2 different cultures, 2 different continents. Upbeat but mellow. Nostalgic but hopeful. Arrogant but sweet. Sweet arrogance. Real but mystical. Magic reality.
