The Pontiacs “Ghost Town”

We’re glad to announce that Jersey Shore, United States-based rock & roll band The Pontiacs have released their debut single, entitled “Ghost Town.”

Comprised of 3 guitarists, a bass player, and a hard hitting drummer, The Pontiacs are a 5 piece rock band from New Jersey. Starting out, they played 3-4 hour shows at bars in their area of the Jersey Shore, as well as playing shows at historic venues in Asbury Park such as The Stone Pony and The Wonder Bar. The band’s extensive gigging has resulted in a deep connection between the members as bandmates and musicians, ultimately leading up to their debut single from this month, “Ghost Town.”

We learned what our strengths and weaknesses were and decided to start writing some music drawing from our influencesThe Pontiacs

Drawing from the band’s eclectic musical influences, such as Jason Isbell, Drive By Truckers, The Gaslight Anthem, Ryan Adams, and Bruce Springsteen, “Ghost Town” was written first by The Pontiacs’ bass player and then was presented to the band. After collaborating as a group, The Pontiacs further developed the song, with each member contributing to the composition.

The single was recorded at Lakehouse Studio in Asbury Park, NJ. The Pontiacs celebrated their release of “Ghost Town” on July 22nd at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ during a 1 hour set.

“Ghost Town” begins with a laidback, clean-toned electric guitar melody, underscored by deep bass notes and steady drumming, while harmonizing nicely with acoustic guitar strumming to create a cozy alternative/indie rock sound from its outset. As the song’s layered guitar melodies ebb and flow throughout “Ghost Town”’s evocative lyrical passages and memorable choruses, they are accompanied by compelling vocals that evoke a wistful and slightly melancholic sense of nostalgia.

“Ghost Town” is quite an enjoyable listen throughout, showcasing The Pontiacs’ brilliant songwriting and superb musicianship; I would highly recommend this track to fans of alternative- and indie rock alike.
