Hello, hello my beautiful readers, welcome back! It’s your boy MadZen, once again delivering only top-notch tracks and today won’t be the exception. A brand-new single by one of my favorite new bands is coming out on the 28th of this month, and it is absolutely beautiful. Let’s get to it!
Detention is a young Pop-Punk band from Ohio who have already made a lot of noise, media-wise and quite literally (My ears are still ringing). Four teenagers with a love for all that’s heavy and rebellious and explosive. Man, it does smell like teen spirit, and we love it.
“Peachy Keen” is their latest track and it is an emotional tune with existential lyrics and deep questions. “Why if everything seems to be ok, do I feel like shit?” is the riddle in Elliott Carter’s (Lead singer) head. The track begins with soft melodic vocals and acoustic guitars, building up the tension until the much-expected high-gain guitars and smacking drums come into the mix.
“This song is about being in a bad place mentally, even when everything in your life is normal or going well. You start to try and justify how you’re feeling by looking for things that are going wrong, even when they aren’t. The whole song is about how it’s okay to be “not okay”, even when you feel like there isn’t anything wrong.” – Elliott Carter
