heavy on the heart.'s exciting debut single "Mr. Know It All"

This time I’m here to bring you the exciting and gorgeous debut single from “heavy on the heart.”, a brand new rock band hailing from Long Island, New York. It’s titled “Mr. Know It All” and it’s one hell of a start: fiery drums, piercing guitar riffs, and strong vocals that just hit you like a punch in the stomach. It’s pop punk at its finest, and an absolute joy to listen to.

The quartet started out once guitarist Costas Themistocleous’s former band broke up and he began writing new material with frontwoman Nikki Brady all the way back in 2021. Not long after, Nikki found out she was pregnant and the duo was forced to take a small break from the music – which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, according to the band themselves. In this meantime, Costas began playing with other musicians that would eventually make up the final lineup for heavy on the heart.: Nick Kolokathis on drums and Andrew Nicolae on bass, and the magic truly began.

The band’s approach to making music is that “the best music makes you feel something. It brings you back somewhere. We want people to honestly connect with the song and tune in whatever emotion or memory it brings back.”, and they are definitely on the right pathway with that mindset. heavy on the heart.’s music is pristine pop punk, evoking acts like early Paramore and Pretty Girls Make Graves, it’s incredibly exciting to hear this in 2023 in a way that sounds cool again, and that’s what they’ve accomplished.

The single was accompanied by a nicely shot music video, featuring a couple coming to the same bar over time. And we can see the time passing, Nikky’s character at one point brings out a baby with her and keeps looking more and more fed up with this guy that looks like he’s a douchebag from scene one. It’s all intertwined with energetic shots of the band playing the song until eventually she just gets up and leaves. It’s nice storytelling and it completely matches the energy of the song itself.

“Mr. Know It All” is an excellent debut single, it leaves you feeling excited for this band and what can do from here on out. And it’s a delight to know that their debut EP, It’s You That Needs to Think is already finished and set for release next September! God, I cannot wait to hear more from them.
