Belgian band Factheory presented their brand new EP: The Day (OK Lion! Remix). A four-track collection of electro-pop / dark wave and industrial elements, all remixed by Stéphane Devillers of the Brussels group OK Lion!

What’s going on ladies and gentlemen welcome back! It’s your boy MadZen and today we have an amazing EP filled with addictive tracks, fueled up by exciting electro-pop rhythms and deeply dark textures, that remind us of bands like Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, and even Nine Inch Nails. Let’s get it!
The EP opens up with “The Day (Long Version)”, a New Wave track with lots of dark energies carried away by groovy synths, as well as a solid drum foundation, with a tonal quality that can be heard in heavier genres like Industrial Rock. It is one hell of a track, as it continues to evolve from an uplifting, danceable beat, to a more somber and mysterious atmosphere, with an almost frantic rhythm. A great opening track with deep vocals, and an overall Dark Wave style.
The Day (Short Version) is actually the same track, but faded and cut just before the eriee section begins.
“Souvent” is completely sung in French, and it is carried by grooving drums and a deep low synth acting as bass. Melodic, high-gained guitars and lush pads are put together, creating an ethereal atmosphere with psychedelic effects. We are transported to a heavenly place by the soft synths and the crunchy chords, lifted from the earth, only coming down thanks to the ground-pounding beat.
“Got You (OK Lion! Remix)” delivers a completely different vibration, but preserves the ethereal qualities. Almost experimental, the track welcomes us with rich textures, dark wave synth lines, and even acoustic guitars. An absolutely dope drum fill opens up the way for the very much-needed drums.
Without a doubt, this EP is a journey; short, but with a lot to discover. A beautiful landscape closes the tracks, while we are left with the urge to start all over again. So, listen now!
