What’s going on ladies and gentlemen, welcome back! It’s your boy, MadZen, and today we have a pretty cool track soon to be released. A Psychedelic Rock-inspired tune with Progressive Rock influences that takes us for a dive into a sea of wide atmospheres, trippy melodies, and laid-back grooves. Let’s get it!
Sweet Victories / Sour Defeat was recorded and produced exclusively in a college dormroom, with the goal of creating the most massive song possible with the limited equipment/experience.
Therum is a Psychedelic Rock act led by the multi-talented John Luke Melovich. This one-man band writes, produces, records, and engineers everything himself! For the last few years, he has been working on a sound of his own, pulling inspiration from acts like Tame Impala, Radiohead, Muse, and even The Strokes. The result is a slow-burning performance that rewards the patient listener! As Melovich puts it: “It is about the experience, the feel, and is the kind of music that you can put on headphones to and immerse yourself.“
“Sweet Victories / Sour Defeat” is his most recent single, and it follows the premise of a slow build. With lush pads, deep grooving bass, tasty drums, crunchy guitars, and clean vocals, Therum achieved a unique sonic landscape that pulls us into its psychedelic gravity.
The track will also premiere with an AI-generated music video, perfectly matching the song’s audible qualities. With bright, vivid colors, the video presents everything from ocean denizens to temples and churches from all around the world, featuring different countries and religions. Just like the song, the music video takes us on a deep journey in and of itself, so you better check it out!
