Jacqueline Loor is back again with a new single called “Nothing I Wouldn’t Do”, and it’s a dark take on a love song – her darkest yet. After a string of successful releases ever since 2019, Jacqueline released her first full-length album “Show Them“ in 2021 and started to fly higher and higher.
Her latest track is a new sound for her, featuring dark pop vibes and slow tempos, minimal instrumentation, and a few experimental touches in percussion and production. It is gorgeous, a haunting and eerie atmospheric track that showcases just how powerful Jacqueline’s vocals can be and stand on their own. The lyrics talk about a less-than-ideal relationship, in which one of the parts is obsessed with the other to a worrying point.
“I’m all about love, a healthy loving relationship, but unfortunately I’ve seen a lot of people experience toxic relationships. I wanted to write a song that spoke to that”, Jacqueline herself says about the song. It’s an interesting angle to approach a bad relationship, being the point of view of the person who is essentially the abuser.
The darkness of the production choices, however, never lets you fully relate to their side of things and that is also incredibly clever. ‘There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make you love me the way I love you‘, as she sings on the chorus, is a troubling line that fits the vibe of the song oh so well. There’s an ever-increasing tension as the song goes on that keeps you on the edge of your seat, paying attention and listening in.
“Nothing I Wouldn’t Do” is an absolutely intriguing song, that’s fascinatingly constructed from thought to execution. Jacqueline gives an amazing vocal performance that pairs nicely with the cinematics of it all. It’s a song like nothing she’s ever done before, and it’s a truly remarkable achievement for Jacqueline.
