LTB is an up-and-coming artist from Annapolis, United States, who’s been making a fuss amongst R&B enthusiasts. “Rewind” is the name of his proper debut single and when you listen to it, it’s easy to understand why all the fuss.

The sounds explored by the artist on this go to the R&B-infused pop sphere, with beautiful monotone vocals, jazz influences, and heartfelt lyrics. What gets me the most about this debut is how emotional everything we hear is, from the soft pianos and guitars to the shy saxophone line near the end. This is a masterclass in minimal production, there are very few elements but everything goes so well together it’s astounding.

The concept of “Rewind” came to me on an introspective evening in my room. As I sat there thinking over and over about all the things in my past that I wanted to change…including myself, I realized how futile it was. And, how I was probably the only one in the world who really cared.

“Rewind” is a song about moving on, letting go of past mistakes, and embracing what you’ve got now. With a topic like this, the easiest thing would be to turn it into a regretful song; but it’s not. LTB does sing ‘Can I rewind the past? I just wanna talk‘ but it sounds more like a hopeful resolution than regret.
“My favorite line from the song came out of that moment — I’m obsessed with my past, I’m the one making it last. I hope others will listen and realize that moving forward is the best way to live life to the fullest.”

Inspired and influenced by names such as Joji, James Blake, and Hozier, the artist definitely knows how to construct a song in a way that is different than his peers but still sounds like a pop song. “Rewind” is a sorrowful song, incredibly delicate in its production and delivery. LTB has caught our attention for sure, and we’ll keep a watchful eye on these three letters.
