British folk band The Marsh Family are getting ready to release their warm and hopeful new single “See Your Face Again”. The band, an actual family consisting of four children and their parents, makes music that sounds both traditional and edgy. Their brand of indie folk featuring pianos, strings, and violins is a very interesting one, focusing on soft energy and comfort – but occasionally reaching Arcade Fire heights.

The family, who rose to visibility during the worst of the pandemic with their “parody songs with a unique mix of humor, heart, and hope”, released the excellent “My Storybook” single back in February and this time they come back with their most heartfelt song yet. “See Your Face Again” was written about the struggles of war, exile, and being a refugee – and being forced to be away from your loved ones and old life.
Written especially for Refugee Week and focusing on compassion and simplicity, “See Your Face Again” is a tearjerker in the most beautiful way possible. It feels incredibly hopeful, with banjos and strings and absolutely stunning vocal harmonies. “See Your Face Again” also features a lovely violin line played by Afghan musician Ali Esmahilzada, who fled Kabul in 2022 and was gifted an antique violin so that he could play again. It’s an awe-inspiring collaboration and just another special layer on such a special song.
