The London-based singer-songwriter’s new single comes across as a quirky viral pop sound filled with eternally youthful energy. The fast-paced story of a young person with lots to say is spiced up with little foley sounds like the phone beeps and chatting crowd, depicting the busy days spent in the middle of bustling crowds. Sharing awkward stories like one of a one-night stand, Issy Winstanley invites the listeners to celebrate life and all the joy and laughter it brings along.
This song was very much inspired by the phrase ‘screw it, I’m 20’. It was written just coming out of lockdown where we were all travelling again, seeing friends, and potentially having a bit *too* much fun. I wanted to capture that essence of freedom and fun; I want people to be able to listen to this song and be transported to careless summer holidays and driving with the windows down.

In addition to releasing this light-hearted and fun track into the summer heat to soundtrack careless days, Issy Winstanley is gearing up to release a debut EP very soon. The young artist, already noticed by BBC Introducing which has featured her twice so far, pulls inspiration from the likes of Maisie Peters, Gryff, and Dylan, and has turned herself into a promising bright artist in the UK’s acoustic pop scene.
Being on the edge of 22, my songs are written by the emotional-20-something for the emotional-20-something. I want listeners to feel like what I write about resonates with them; I want it to be relatable, and give them a raw, real, unfiltered version of what my life is like. My music so far is like screenshots of my life at each different stage, and I hope can act as the same for it’s listeners
