American pop rock band The Heidi Incident makes a splash with their debut single “Under the Lights”. The band, self-described as a ‘diverse group of characters that collided from different walks of life sharing a common bond’, made something that feels timeless and utterly modern on their debut, with impeccable production and a groove that can’t be denied.

“Under the Lights” was carefully crafted and written by guitarist and producer Dan Hayes while trying to bring together all of the band’s influences as a way to consolidate their signature sound. And, boy, did he succeed! The result is a striking, fast-paced love song that captures an incredibly infectious and catchy mood. Citing everyone from Michael Jackson to Maroon 5 as inspirations, The Heidi Incident created a vast and colorful soundscape that just sounds so good.

Light, sunny, and dancey, “Under the Lights” is a perfect debut song: it sets the mood, shows everything that they aspire to do all at once, and that they know how to do it perfectly. Blending a straightforward pop rock with new wave, disco, and hip hop elements as well as a fine use of electronics and vocal modulators, “Under the Lights” can be described most accurately in one single word: fun. Everything about it works, sounds good, and leaves you both satisfied and wanting to hear more. Definitely a remarkable achievement and just a damn good song.
