The fresh-faced singer-songwriter ARO sets her foot out into the music scene with her debut single “Let Me Go”. Weaving powerful cinematic sound with equally impactful lyricism, ARO opens a door into the world seen through the eyes of a routine heartbreaker, a person that sees themselves as a force of nature, the dark side of romance.
That self-perceived force of nature opens up with a huge echoing atmosphere embedding the feelings of no remorse, a notion of self-centered admiration, and the enjoyment of being the villain in someone else’s story. ARO’s smooth emotive vocals fit snugly inside the grand theme that surrounds the saboteur basking in the aftermath of broken hearts and the sure knowledge of being remembered. A gloomy heavy downpour of reverberant synths does paint a really soulful atmosphere, and at the same time, it’s giving off some real beauty, just as if you’re looking through the eyes of the song’s character.
ARO (pronounce as Arrow) hails from LA, where she has settled after moving around a lot with her family and studying in the art and design school in Philadelphia. Music has followed the budging artist around and become a way of self-expression. Her RNB-infused dark electropop is home to the ‘Fierce Femme’ notion and themes of neurodivergence and personal growth in society as it is today. Dark figures appear in ARO’s songs often and instead of banishing them with the Do Better call, the artist reminds us that destruction and creation are closely linked and can’t exist without each other.
