Thunder Club’s new single “Try Your Luck” hits you like a bolt of lightning

American indie rock band Thunder Club soars through their latest single, “Try Your Luck”, and aims for a stadium-sized anthem. And, spoiler alert, they pull it off. The Baltimore-based quartet has been at it, releasing EPs and singles and all-around great music for a little while now and they keep getting better at it the more they do it.

Their previous song, “Venetian Blinds“, showed the band boldly going in a new direction by adding powerful keyboards and a touch of epicness to their ever-growing sound. On “Try Your Luck” that transition seems to be completed, keeping up with the greatness they achieved so well and just a little while ago. If in “Venetian Blinds” the band were testing out the waters, on “Try Your Luck” they dive in head first.

The stoner rock influences are more present, as the seamless production manages to make them sound heavier than ever at the same time that it gives you room to breathe and fathom what is truly happening. There is also a newfound confidence in lead singer Dennis Chen’s vocals. He sounds ferocious and urgent, blending together all of their previous inspirations – like Queens of the Stone Age, The Strokes, and Arctic Monkeys – all at once. The subject at hand is also a very interesting one because once you strip away all the hard rock they are doing, the lyrics are pretty vulnerable and honest.

On “Try Your Luck”, the band is singing about asking for help from someone who is very close, but unsure if any assistance will in fact come.

“The lyrics also touch upon the idea of luck and not wanting to miss an opportunity or make a mistake, indicating a sense of urgency in seeking help or change”.

They say about the track. You can definitely feel the anxiety and urgency, especially in the delivery of the vocals, and it takes the song to an even higher ground.

Thunder Club is proving itself to be an incredibly dynamic band, knowing how to explore the best of their own painted soundscape as well as leaving you with a feeling that this is real. The way Thunder Club manages to merge both the hard rocking sounds with such raw honesty is absolutely remarkable, and that will be the key to their longevity. I cannot wait to see what they come up with next!
