At long last, the highly anticipated full-length album of the acclaimed international duo has arrived. “Unicorns In Space” is the fruit of all the Unicorns’ labor, an 18-track album filled with sci-fi stories, dangerous encounters, and tales of overcoming.
“The First Unicorn On Mars” is a deep dive into the struggles of human existence. A bittersweet tale of abandonment, death, and alienation. A track very different from other singles which we’ve delighted ourselves with like “I Fell In Love With a Space Slug”, for this one carries a more serious and profound message.
This groundbreaking song addresses somber themes such as domestic abuse, alcoholism, suicide, grief, and racist bullying in its verses, showcasing the band’s willingness to explore the depths of human experience.
Created with The Unicorn’s usual soundscapes and dreamy melodies, “The First Unicorn On Mars” tells the tale of how the protagonist unicorn became a spaceman in the first place, defying all odds, and escaping a harsh reality. All of this is portrayed in the music/lyric video, which presents a visual companion for the touching instrumentation.
