British indie rock doyens The Trudy are back with another delicate and stunning new track, “Every Story Ever Told”. The London-based band is now currently a trio and this time they’re back at it again and stronger than ever.

Being around for a long time, first coming together all the way in 1979, the band had its fair run of singles until disbanding in the mid-90s as the members pursued solo careers and other projects. Since getting back together in 2006, The Trudy blessed us with several albums and even more great singles but it’s been a hot minute since we last heard from them: this is their first glimpse of new music since 2021’s “Dear Sancho“.

“Every Story Ever Told” offers a beautiful 90s-inspired production in the likes of Sixpence None the Richer, and blends perfectly the indie rock with post-punk influences the band’s been known for with a delicate indie folk sensibility. The new single reminds me of “The Story” by legendary artist Brandi Carlile, in the way that it celebrates living in the moment and has a nostalgic feeling for what’s past. A song built around themes of self-discovery and moving forward, “Every Story Ever Told” has a nice hopeful tone to it and leaves you with a smile on your face.
The Trudy’s latest work is immaculate in evoking beautiful imagery of resilience such as a mariner sailing the seas, braving new horizons, and chasing the beauty in life. It accompanies a beautifully crafted music video, which relies heavily on sea imagery showcasing a beautiful hand-painted ship intertwined with shots of water and smoke and birds flying by. It gives you an enormous sense of peace and lightens even the heaviest of hearts.

It’s wonderful to see that The Trudy are back, and already preparing for the release of their next album titled Outside Time, produced by the one and only Greg Walsh – whose previous works include Kate Bush and Heaven 17. It’s a perfect fit for the band, that came back swinging like no time has passed.
