Bedroom Pop artist, Balloon Shed, delivers a cathartic single in “Hate Song”. A tune inspired by 80’s/90’s Alt Rock and written with a lyricism that stings through honesty and critical messaging.

Rowan Davies, AKA Balloon Shed, is a Bristol (UK) singer/songwriter who for 20 years abandoned music making. Dusting off his old guitar in 2022, the musician soon found again enjoyment in the songwriting and recording process, releasing his first single “Prick”, on streaming services, later followed by the single “Frank Says”. Now, Balloon Shed is ready for a new track!
“Hate Song” comes up with a full Garage Rock sound. A raw and exciting track, crafted in a lo-fi style that exudes all of Davie’s thoughts and sentiments of anxiety and anger, whilst delivering undeniable hooks. Without ambition or expectations, the British composer created the track as a form of therapy, with lyrics that very much fit into today’s recent global events.
The single portrays a world dominated by bigots and bad actors who prey on people’s fears in an effort to accrue wealth and power. A truly terrifying scenario indeed! Led by Davie’s vocals and guitars, you can also listen to some lo-fi drums and bass in the background. What stands out more are Balloon Shed’s witty lyrics delivered by his angry high-pitched vocals.
The British artist has yet more to give, including a further single due for release in late 2023, and a self-titled EP following shortly after.
