WHEN.in.MAINE singles marked as “Late Night in Maine” differ from regular hard rock, new metal and postgrunge songs. They usually fall under new wave, cold wave or synthwave criteria. It’s the very case with “C Song” which is on the rock and new wave side.
After a successful string of releases, the Polish duo is now back with even more music. This single stands out more than its predecessors simply for the reason that it comes with some beautiful guest vocals by Danish singer Annerup. In fact, the song is a vocal duo, with lead singer Wojciech singing in English and Annerup in Danish.
The track, as mentioned above, leaves the hard kicking, grunge-style, music behind. It is a chill song, with smooth vibes and driving guitar riffs at a steady pace. “C Song”, like most of WIM’s recent songs, is about heartbreak, and the fall of a relationship.
Of course, I don’t speak Danish, but I can tell that Annerup’s vocals point the finger at Wojciech, blaming him for the fallout. Either way, her voice is really soft and melodic, a nice addition and a departure from WIS’s usual raw male vocals.
