Norwegian up and coming musician, producer, singer and songwriter Ronde Fauchald just released a brand-new track of epic proportions titled “Battle Scars: A Beautiful Lie” under his moniker RXND and it goes so hard. Heavily influenced by emo sincerity and a very interested and nuanced pop punk production, the artist brings forth a very important theme into light, and that is mental health.

Inspired by his own ongoing experiences with illness and, according to Ronde himself, “the eye-opening experience of discovering who your real friends are as alot of people would be betraying you the moment you get sick wich makes us feel so down that it can be hard to keep our mental health up”. It’s some heavy and relatable content, for sure, but it never gets too dark or overwhelming; walking that very fine line to its fullest lentgh and never wavering on its own mission.
“Battle Scars” serves as a follow up for 2022’s “Live or Die” and brings to the table the same sense of urgency first introduced on his debut and does it in a light that never stops shining. The production on “Battle Scars: A Beautiful Lie” is majestic, revealing itself as an incredibly dynamic and cinematic composition that knows exactly when to slow down and when to explode into said epic proportions – and it also does all that in a very organic and organized manner, combining elements of 90s indie rock emo, screamo and synthpop.
The overall mental health thematic explored by RXND on this track are incredibly nuanced and hit heavy with vulnerable emotions. It’s a sensible topic that is handled very well by the artist, incorporating his own struggles and still standing tall as a cathartic anthem that’s more than able to help other people see themselves in this narrative. It brings comfort to the listener and sounds extremely personal even with its big bold production and instrumentals. “Battle Scars: A Beautiful Lie” is a track like very few others, one that manages to reel you in and draw attention with its explosions but keeps you in with its emotional content and impeccable performance.
