Melbourne, Australia rocker Ivan Beecroft will be emerging from the unique space he has been carving out for himself within independent music industry via a new single that is to be released to streaming services in January of 2024. The song is titled, “Carousel,” and it is actually available to check out early on Bandcamp and YouTube!

The track promises to be true to his signature brand of alternative rock as was demonstrated in his previous album “Liberty or Die” in 2022. By my ear, I hear a sound reminiscent of classic alternative rock bands like Velvet Revolver, The Black Crowes, and a dash of dystopian lyrical cynicism similar to some Grunge bands of the 90s.

Beecroft states that the extended Covid lockdown that occurred in Melbourne was inspiration for the song. That paired with concepts read from the writings of George Orwell constitute the lyrical prowess in Beecroft’s writing intended to take aim at what he refers to as the status quo. In the bio of his WordPress site, Beecroft offers that a lot of the social consciousness in his writing is due to reflecting upon his personal experiences as a steel worker.
Musically, Beecroft credits drawing inspiration from iconic rock bands like Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Free.
In the interest of touching on some highlights from Beecroft’s repertoire, his previously released album “The Cynical Express” achieved the number 4 spot in the Canadian top ten of iTunes’ Rock category this past year. An accolade in which Beecroft attributes coining the phrase “Cynical Rock” and identifying as such as the birth of a new sub genre. And here I am still calling it Grunge, ha!
