Sarah Marie Nicolosi, along with the band of her longtime friends, have a fresh debut coming out. The band, The Golden Mean Project, includes a blend of various interests and a combined inkling to make music together. On January19th, the group’s longtime dream of collaborating on a music project sees the fruit in the form of a debut full-length release called Meden Agan. The album ends with “Gimme a Laser”, an energetic laser beam of goodness and the song of this blogpost.

Named after the Fibonacci spiral, a natural phenomenon that can be found in all layers of existence, The Golden Mean Project also hints to it in the title of the debut album, meaning “Nothing To Excess”. The album sees explorations in the realm of electronica and it’s practically made of exciting explorations and discoveries. For instance, the group discovered that a technique called modal composition has the ability to evoke synesthesia, and of course that’s incorporated in the record. Genre-wise it’s a real hybrid built from traditional sounds, vibrant synth of the 80s and hypnotizing melodies and combined into a soul-elevating electronic dance music release.
The 7-track album “Meden Agan” takes a colorful journey through many different soundscapes, ending with a rave-worthy final bang “Gimme a Laser (Kyrie Eleison)”. It’s one of the more energy-filled tracks on this release and drives right into the purple/pink retrofuturism with high-energy beats and jabbing synths. Happy and flowing in an eternal surge of energy, “Gimme a Laser” tells an uplifting story though the excited voice of its synthline, and acts as a perfect closure to what is quite a mind-opening record.
