Elad David’s new release “Mind’s Creations” dropped on January 26th. The vibrant acoustic folk-rock record is a window of raw honesty and one of Elad’s most personal works. The dark and serious hints at some of the topics the EP unravels, but whatever challenges are thrown on the path, “Mind’s Creations” finds a way to caress with sweet melodies and lyrics looking for the silver lining.

The beauty of life is not lost in “Mind’s Creations”, even in the darkest parts of the record. The 5-track release is the first of its kind to come from Elad David, as it consists entirely of songs with vocals and lyrics, as opposed to previous EP’s that also had instrumentals. While it’s a brief delight running for 16 minutes, the EP manages to be a large, captivating body of work that not only has wonderful instrumentation and composition, but also loads of thinking material weaved into lyrics.
It’s a record where hope and despair go hand-in-hand. In Elad’s case, it’s the light and energy provided by love and caring people in his life, in stark contrast against hopelessness and depression coming from endless struggles trying to live from paycheck to paycheck as well as navigating the troubles of severe illness. Sound-wise, the EP is an acoustic folk-rock introspection with emphasis on deep, honest lyricism provided by the equally honest voice. In many ways, it’s like listening to a friend’s confessions and while at it, one can recognize plenty of those thoughts taking place in themselves as well.
In short, this EP is highly relevant for anyone that’s not entirely well trying their best to navigate this life, to the point it soothes the desperation that comes with the struggles. From juggling with bills and work in “Chasing Paper Dreams”, intrusive thoughts in “The Voices” to the realization that rushing through life is not living it in “Nonstop World”, “Mind’s Creations” allows us to slow down and recharge. And when you continue listening, you’ll find endless love for people having a good presence in the artist’s life, such as the ending track “My Path To You”. It’s a wonderful little record made with love and attention to detail, and it shows.
