Nasmore reveals “Little Monster”, a little creepy all-consuming tango with inner demons

Nasmore’s newest single “Little Monster” is a multi-genre fusion and an embodiment of inner conflict. The choice of dance here is tango, and the stage is the mind of a struggling person. When the mood sways between maddening and finding a ray of mental clarity, so does the dance – “Little Monster” does not understate the intensity of this mental conflict, an endless dance between the sensible being and the horned little demon.

The tango between hope and light, and the self-damaging thoughts starts off with quiet eery sounds reminiscent of flowing electricity. The atmosphere slowly builds up on intensity as it makes way to the equally eery and emotion-driven vocals announcing this passionate yet unconsented dance to follow. “Little Monster” infuses elements of circus, in particular the creepiest parts of it, removes the circus-specific notes of it, and turns them into a little, but highly potent little creature of mind, the dark side of us ready to dominate the stage. Opposing that is the desire to be pure and free from the chains of the mind’s intrusive, destructive thoughts, and it’s quite an equal match as the song is about to prove.

The mechanical doll eeriness finds itself surrounded by sweeping rock guitars and powerful percussion as the dance gains speed and reveals its goth-pop infused core. The main theme shows its color in a section dedicated to tango, in which the vocals become muffled, as if spoken to radio, to drive home the notion of sheer intensity. But while all seems gone down the drain, the two sides soon see what’s common in between them, and recognise the power of change in the tango they’ve been dancing.

Those emotion-driven and theatre-inspired vocals belong to Ariana Celaeno, an upcoming vocalist gaining recognition for her incredible vocal range. Her collaboration with songwriter and producer Nasmore has definitely succeeded in giving the inner turmoil a new visual and an encouragement to find the good in what seems just out of control bad.
