This is the fifth of eleven singles that TMH will be releasing through September 2024, with a full album release scheduled for October 2024. This new offering presents a side to their music like we’ve never experienced before. So, buckle up, and let’s get to it!
“Royal Octopus Canal” is a gritty break up song, otherwise described as the bastard child of Patti Smith and Bikini Kill. It comes with a brute force both in drums and ukulele, but also in Meg’s vocals. Usually, Cratty’s vocals act as tempering agent for the harshness of the music, but in this single, her vocals are raw, screaming, and distorted.
There’s a lot of chaos, anger, maybe even rage inside the track. That makes sense because most times that’s how one feels during a break-up, especially if the other person was fooling around. In this case, there’s a certain amount of violence that makes you wonder what the other person did to put Meg in such a state! Wouldn’t wanna be him…
Anyways guys, this new track is pretty wild and it comes with TMH’s distinctive garage rock sound. Also, Mr. Strontiums vocals make themselves present with his characteristic quirkiness and sense of humor. So, listen now!
