Broke Even in the musical child of Tony LoSchiavo, a musician who has been passionate about songwriting and creating music since he was 15. Today, after a long time of battling with self-confidence hurdle with singing, writing lyrics, and performing in front of others, he is finally ready to let his music be heard by the world.
Two tracks, “Turn The Volume Down” and “You Dying” create this double-single release.
First track is an avant-garde inspired track with freaky rhythms, weird harmonies, and funky vocals. It is an all-in-one kind of track where chaos and libertinage roam free. A wild musical land. And it should be, as the lyrics talk about political frustration and rage from a leftist perspective. In Tony’s words: The song jam-packs a seemingly endless supply of topics in four minutes, from the AIDS epidemic, war on drugs, student debt, big pharma, class struggle, propaganda, and right-wing hypocrisy.
Furthermore, the first part of the track talks about “turning the volume down” on the news, not wanting to pay attention and be dragged down into an endless void of misery, but the second part is about realizing that these problems are too important to ignore.
Second track, “You Dying”, was inspired by Tony’s anxiety and intrusive thoughts he gets about tragic things happening to loved ones. Described by the artist as a therapeutic pop-punk sing-along filled with dark humor, this last track finishes to display Broke Even’s peculiarity, with an electronic-like intro that turns into a freaky, chaotic, bizarrely funky, and mind-bending tune
