Jane N’ The Jungle have been dropping one dope ass single from their forthcoming EP, Life of the Party, for the last 18 months or so, and I for one am fucking stoked that the full EP will be available on all streaming sites as of February 23, 2024!

To go along with this release will be the release the final single which is appropriately the title track of the EP. The song “Life of the Party” is less a song to party to and more of a cathartic warning against allowing yourself to become the “drug” that someone needs to be happy. You have literally become the addiction that they crave and if you let them, they will consume you until there is nothing left.
Musically this song opens with a dope drum beat backed by a slow but solid bass line and dreamscape guitar work that all gets layered by heartfelt vocals seem to touch your soul. Then the distorted guitar kicks in and just pushes it to the next level to match the rich and layered chorus.
The whole song is one big build and when the singer hits that long notes, you can feel all the tension just come out. I can’t lie and say that I dig how much this reminds me of pre-grunge hard rock. Unapologetic rock for the sake of fucking rock. With an non-ironic stadium quality guitar solo that would make any prepubescent kid want to pick up an axe.
Be on the lookout for the dope video that comes out too:
Since the EP is out in full form I’m going to touch on the other songs as well:
“Dirty Dog” starts with a sick blues style riff and vocal hook. Love how the drums and bass cut through because of the killer production. The syncopated guitar riffs are killer. Topically this song rips bear the singer’s inner pain and anguish to focus on a laying bare the sexual assault of their past.
In world where a former president continues to defame a woman he was found guilty of sexually assaulting in the same way he bragged about on the bus interview, we need a song like this for women of all ages to listen to help them feel empowered and less alone. You can also check out our past review of the song here.
“Metal Ghost” starts with pounding drums accented by big guitar riffs before it goes into a muted guitar riff and rad drum beat with a two handed pattern on the hi-hat. As with so many of these songs not only is the production just fucking huge, but the vocals of the singer are just insane. Each time they hit a sustained note, it just makes me stop what I’m doing. The bridge does an amazing job of highlighting their vocal power. Check out our past review here.

“Wasteland” starts a bit slower with and feels like it could be the soundtrack to opening scene of a dystopian movie or television show. After about a minute it kicks in, so hard it’s like you were awoken from a daydream by someone slapping you. Oh yeah.
That drum fill was fucking great. I love fills like that because they are there only when they need to be. So many drummers try to show off what they can do, so I really respect when one shows restraint and just does what fits the song. It reminds me of Phil Rudd of AC/DC or Marky Ramone (Of the Ramones duh). The songs closes out with another gnarly guitar solo followed by vocals that just fucking slap. Check out our past review here.
“Cut Me Open” opens with slightly distorted vocals on top of the guitar which sets the dark tone of the song about a person’s desire to be good enough for someone which to me is like banging your head against a wall that doesn’t exist.
What does exist though is another killer blend of rock and metal with each musician crafting a song that would be sick on it’s own but when topped off with the vocals becomes fucking epic. Oh damn. I love this drop to the acoustic part. Totally unexpected and fucking great way to highlight those rich vocals. The song ends with a diminuendo which is perfect because I was spent and needed to be let back down slowly. Check out our past review here.
“Bed of Roses” starts with a killer bass riff coupled with this super fucking nice staccato guitar riff overtop. This rad interplay between the bass and the guitar repeats itself just one more time which is like letting an addict have just a smell of the crack but not the taste. Like so many of their songs, they really use the bridge well to create this amazing build that allows the vocals to reach new heights and carry the listener with them. I for one fucking loved the show! Check out our past review here.
