This relatively new band “it used to be here” was created by Jarod Lewins (Bass, Synth, Vocals), and Andrew Tran (Guitar). Two musicians who first met on their previous band Ten Easy Payments and stayed in touch after the project disbanded. Both have a love for the melancholic, cathartic, and abrasive.

Inspired by artists like Deftones, My Bloody Valentine, and Radiohead, “Twice The Stars” presents a post-rock inspired sound, with hazy & high-gained guitar riffs, as well as ethereal pads. It also comes with an almost synth-wave approach, and even a trip-hop essence within the beats and melodies. All of these characteristics merge together and create a dreamy landscape of lightness and somewhat fragile emotions.
Five minutes long, the track is carried by the softly sung vocals, which are as deep as they are intimate. With lyrics inspired by the poem “the two headed calf” by laura gilpin, the track tries to emulate that powerful feeling of at last belonging somewhere.

The drums are also a powerful addition to the music, with a highly compressed sound that almost steps into the lo-fi realm. There are definitely some Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins, and even Incubus vibes to them, so we encourage you to give it a listen ASAP and drift away into its sea of sound.
